Cookie Targeting for Popup

Cookie targeting allows you to show or hide popups based on specific cookies stored in a visitor’s browser. This is an advanced way to personalize your campaigns, such as showing a specific offer only to logged-in users or hiding a popup for users who have already seen a specific promotion.

This cookie targeting for popup guide shows the use of PoupKit plugin functionality. So, install and activate the PopupKit plugin primero.

  3. Inside the builder, click on the Ajustes tab in the left-hand panel.

  2. You can add multiple rules to create complex “AND” logic, meaning all conditions must be met for the action to trigger.

Step 3: Set the Show Conditions #

Before defining the cookie, you must decide what the popup should do when it finds a match:

  1. Encuentra el Show Conditions desplegable.
  2. Select one of the following:
    • Show Popup: The popup will only appear if the cookie exists and matches your rules.
    • Don’t Show Popup: The popup will be hidden if the cookie matches your rules (useful for excluding existing customers).

Step 4: Configure Cookie Name and Value #

This is where you define the specific cookie the system should look for.

1. Cookie Name #

First, tell PopupKit which cookie to track:

  • Dropdown Filter: Choose how to identify the name (Contains, Starts with, Ends with, o Equal to).
  • Input Box: Enter the exact name of the cookie (e.g., wp-postpass_ or active_customer).

2. Cookie Value #

Next, define what that cookie must contain to trigger the condition:

  • Dropdown Filter: Select your logic operator. Options include Contains, Starts with, Ends with, Equal to, Greater Than, Less Than, o Any Value.
  • Input Box: Enter the value you are looking for (e.g., true, 1, or a specific ID).

Step 5: Save and Test #

Once your rules are set, click Actualizar o Publicar at the top of the builder. To test your cookie targeting, you may need to use your browser’s “Inspect” tool to view active cookies or use an Incognito window to see how the popup behaves with and without specific cookies present.

PopupKit cookie targeting provides a sophisticated way to deliver the right message to the right user based on their unique browsing history. By mastering these rules, you can significantly reduce “popup fatigue” and increase your overall conversion rates.
